On the bright Friday morning of 23rd August 2019 Christ College Mysuru conducted One Day National Workshop on “Suicide Prevention: Role of Mental Health Professionals. Mr. Sunny Joseph K {MSc, MPhil in Clinical Psychology from NIMHANS and Department of Neurology Manipal Hospital Bangalore} was invited as the resource persons for the workshop.

On the bright Friday morning of 23rd August 2019 Christ College Mysuru conducted One Day National Workshop on “Suicide Prevention: Role of Mental Health Professionals. Mr. Sunny Joseph K {MSc, MPhil in Clinical Psychology from NIMHANS and Department of Neurology Manipal Hospital Bangalore} was invited as the resource persons for the workshop.
The programme started at 9.30 am with a melodious invocation song by the college choir group. Rev Fr. Shanu Varghese addressed the gathering with a quote saying that “Look at the goal and kick the ball it will become a goal” he related it with the purpose of our life and how we should work with passion to achieve our goal together. Following the Indian tradition, the programme was officially inaugurated by lighting the lamp. The lamp was lit by Fr. Shanu Varghese, Mr. Sunny Joseph K, Mr. Johnson W S and one of the participants. Aleena George of V semester BA introduced the main resource person of the workshop Mr Sunny Joseph K. After the official introduction of the guest he was requested to take over session, the theme for the first session was “BRINGING IN AWARENESS” Mr. Sunny started with collecting student’s opinion and interacting with the group,
the session provided the platform for students to share their thought, knowledge and views. Mr. Sunny educated the gathering by his review and facts. By the end of the first session he created a spark in the minds of young psychologists by his enlightening talk. The group was given a tea break at 11.30 am. The second session started at 11.45 am. In the second session he started the discussion based on the theme “EARLY DETECTION OF THE VULNERABLE” the group was divided into 10 groups, this grouping was done to get individual opinion from each group to understand the detection of the vulnerable which was unique and different than other workshops. The participants had lunch break between 1 pm to 2 pm. Short films were played during the lunch session. The post lunch session began with the theme “PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTION” which provoked thought in young minds, during the session the students and teachers where given brain storming activity which became an entertainment factor to the gathering. The participants had a tea break between 3.15 to 3.30 pm. After the break Mr Sunny invited a volunteer from the group for a mock therapeutic session requesting her to discuss and mention few problems of herself and through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy he made the client understand the wrong thoughts which she developed about others which was indirectly disturbing others. Two competitions were held for the workshop COM!CON- a comic strip competition conducted on the theme Suicide Prevention. SPECTORA- Short film competition also on the theme of the workshop. Valedictory function was held after the post lunch session at 4 pm, first Semester BA students performed a dance programme. Prizes were distributed for two competitions The spectora (the short film competition) The comicon (comic strip competition) where in short film competition the First place was bagged by Mahajanas College, Mysuru and Second place by students of Christ College, Mysuru. In the comicon competition the First place was secured by Mahajanas College, Mysuru and the Second place was also bagged by Mahajanas College. Participation certificates were distributed to the participants and feedback form participants were collected in writing and one participant was each college were requested to give feedback on the Dias. Ms. Alinta of V semester BA offered the vote of thanks and Mr Sunny Joseph K was honoured by Fr. Shanu Varghese and Mr Johnson W S, HOD of the Department of Psychology. The workshop was concluded with National Anthem and the photo session.
Psyquest- One Day National Workshop organized by Christ college was a successful harvest in Preventing suicide. The participants had fun, knowledge, enlightenment and they promised that they would try their level best in helping people overcome the problem of suicide which has become the curse to the modern society. The Workshop helped the young Mental Health Professionals to understand the problem and take a major role in preventing suicide.
